Jade Pellett

Hi my name is Jade, I have over 12 years experience in Hairdressing and it all started from a very young age, my mum has owned her own salon since I was about 4 years old, in Cape Town, which is where I grew up so I was used to helping answer the phone and being a general help around the salon during school holidays, I also used to use my friends and my sister as models during many ‘Hairdresser – Hairdresser’ games over the years, much to my mum’s dismay!

When I was 15 years old we moved over the UK, where I took my GCSE’s, during which time my mum suggested I get a weekend job for extra pocket money, so I took a job as a Saturday girl in the salon my mum worked at, I stayed there for about a year and a half until my friend, Laura, who also worked at the same salon, got a placement as an Apprentice with TONI&GUY in Camberley, this sounded like a great opportunity and my mum really encouraged me to put my name down if any places became available.

A few weeks went by and then I got the phone call for an interview, I met the Manager, Anna, and before I knew it I had started my Apprenticeship with TONI&GUY.

I worked really hard and managed to get my Nvq 2 Qualification within 18months, I also attended many courses at L’Oreal such as Colour Keys and Colour Change and then went onto getting my TONI&GUY Diploma, I was a Qualified Colour Technician!

I was nominated by our Nvq provider ‘ITS’ as ‘Best Modern apprenticeship Completer‘ a prize they give out at the Learning Skills Council and Won against many other nominees from many other industries, this was Fantastic! This gave me a real boost!

I was really keen to further my career so I started to teach in the salon and go to the TONI&GUY Art Team meetings for inspiration.

I also attended the L’Oreal Train the trainer and Advanced Train the trainer courses to gain more experience.

I then started working towards my NVQ D32/D33, Which is a teaching diploma, which I managed to gain within a year!

I then embarked on the Gruelling ‘L’Oreal Colour Specialist Degree’ a course only the Best colourists in the country complete, it was a 6 week course and very challenging, yet very exciting, I completed with a 96% Distinction and came top of the class, which was a real achievement.

Soon after completing this I decided I might quite like to work for L’Oreal as a Technical consultant teaching courses and managing accounts.

One of the girls at the salon worked for L’Oreal part time and mentioned there were jobs available.

So I went for it, now at the age of 21 I wasn’t really expecting to get any job with L’Oreal, but as my Dad said “its all good experience!”

A few weeks later I went for an interview and then another interview and I got the job!

I was now a ‘L’Oreal Technical consultant’!

I loved my new job, meeting many salon owners, working with them to train their staff, I also taught courses at the L’Oreal Academy including, can you believe it, the L’Oreal Colour Specialist Degree!

I never thought I see the day of teaching one of the hardest Hairdressing Colour courses in the world, but I was and I loved it!

I was a Technical Consultant for about 2 years and then a more Senior role became available, ‘National Accounts Technical Manager’ this would involve looking after big accounts such as TONI&GUY, HARRINGTONS, HEADMASTERS, CHARLES WORTHINGTON, DANIEL GALVIN, SAKS, SANRIZZ and many more!

My boss really wanted me to go for it, but I was apprehensive, it was a big responsibility!

I went for the interview and it was between 2 of us in the end, I was sure the other girl had got it, but I was WRONG! I got the job as ‘National Accounts Technical Manager‘ I couldn’t believe it, I was on cloud 9!!

My main account was TONI&GUY which was great as I trained with them and knew the way they worked, I also looked after many other big companies training their staff, presenting New products, organising events, making taylor made courses for each individual organisation, taking them on trips abroad and many other brilliant opportunities.

This was a fantastic time in my career and working so closely with many of the TONI&GUY Franchisees gave me the bug to want to own my very own salon, so I went for a meeting with TONI, yes THE TONI MASCOLO!

I met with TONI and I met the criteria, TONI&GUY had decided to stop opening any NEW salons and build on the existing salons, of which there was a list of salons I could chose from, KINGSTON immediately caught my eye, what a fantastic location! Before long I have handed my notice in at L’Oreal and taken over TONI&GUY KINGSTON as my own Business!

I owned the Salon for 5 years, in which time I worked with many fantastic members of staff, we came 2nd in the WELLA Trend Vision Competition and even got a few appearances in the ‘Hairdresser’s Journal’ the most popular Hairdressing magazine in the country, we did many events over the years and I got to meet many amazing individuals, it was a great experience! I attended many Management Courses and even an NLP course, it was a great experience!

But before long it was time to renew the Franchise agreement, I decided I would prefer to go it alone, as managing 16 members of staff could be a little stressful at times, so in January 2010 I decided it was a good time to make my break and I did, I sold TONI&GUY KINGSTON and formed my new company ‘HAIR REMEDY‘ this was a massive change to what I was used to and also very nerve racking completely relying on me, myself and I, but I love it and I love the people I meet along the way, its great that my focus is solely on my client and not what’s happening at the desk, or what member of staff has not turned up for work or any other distractions.

My Mobile Salon brings the professional techniques and high standards of a top salon to the comfort of your own homefor prices I think you’ll like!

Nikki colour change

Nikki with her new Colour and Cut!

Mobile Hairdresser, Jade goes to camberley to give Nikki a completely new haircut and colur!

Nikki’s Lifestyle: Nikki is a hairdresser too, she is always busy and has  two children so therefore she doesn’t have much time to style her hair. Nikki has very thick, long hair and has had the same style and colour for a very long time.

The Plan: Nikki is desperate for a change, but is also very nervous! She has had the same long layered haircut and highlights for many years now.We researched many magazines and decided to take the length of her hair up quite alot and to give her a more funky, fashionable colour to compliment her new cut!

Lets make it happen: I decided to take the length of her hair upto her shoulders, which means I cut off a good 7 inches of her hair!! I then decided to colour a top vail section of her hair with a soft peachy tone and then added some striking blonde slices through the sides and a deeper caramel colour on the underneath to compliment her haircut.

The End result: A fabulous shoulder length, sophisticated cut enhanced with a beautiful flow of warming tones of fuzzy peach, creamy caramels and candyfloss blonde.

Vicky's New Chestnut Midi!

Vicky's New Chestnut Midi!

Jade the mobile hairdresser goes to guildford to cut and colour vicky’s hair!

Vicky’s lifestyle: Vicky works in Marketing and has a very busy social life, she doesn’t have much time to spend styling her hair. Vicky has quite fine hair and has had blonde highlights for years, but she is sick of having dark roots and would like a change.

The Plan: Vicky has been growing her hair and had blonde highlights for a long time, she has decided she would like a complete change, a new colour & a funky new haircut to compliment it!

Let’s Make it Happen: We agreed a on a sleek Midi- haircut, which is basically a trendy word for a longer bob, this  has made Vicky’s hair look very sophisticated, easy to style at home and healthier too. With Vicky’s hair colour we decided to keep a few fine sun kissed highlights through the top and then applied a cool chestnut gloss in between to make those beautiful blue eyes stand out, this will also give Vicky much less maintainence with roots! So she won’t have to have her hair coloured as often.

The end result: A sleek, sexy Midi – haircut with a cool chestnut gloss with some sunkissed highlights, she looks GORGEOUS!!

New Hair Colour in Guildford!

Posted under Client's Before and After, Creative Colour by admin on January 17th, 2011 8:16 am
Saffron before

Saffron before her new Hair Colour

Saffron After

Saffron with her New Chocolate Brown Hair Colour!

Saffron’s Lifestyle: Saffron lives in Guildford and is still studying and loves to experiment with new colours & hairstyles!

History: Saffron has been gradually lifting her hair lighter & lighter over the past year, when I first started colouring Safforn’s hair she had a very dark brown colour and wanted to go lighter so I  added some lovely soft honey and caramel colours, gradually over the last year I’ve taken her lighter & lighter eventually reaching a platinum blonde in November,  Saffron decided she wanted something a little more striking so I left a vale section of Blonde and coloured the perimeter of her hair with a very bright red, Saffron loved it but unfortunately her tutor did not take it too well so we decided that perhaps she should  change her hair colour to a more natural tone until she is finished studying in the summer.

The Plan:We decided a lovely rich chocolatey brunette would be a good choice .

Let’s make it Happen: Because Saffron’s hair is so light I need to Pre Colour her hair before applying her chosen chocolate brown, this will ensure a nice even colour that will last longer. I need to leave the pre colour on for 15 minutes and then I rinse and dry her hair before applying the L’Oreal Profesionnel Light Brown and Chocolate Natural glossing.

The end Result: A beautiful glossy chocolate brunette

Keira’s Chic ‘n Sleek Bob!

Posted under Latest Celebrity Styles, Recommended Hair Products by admin on November 9th, 2010 11:17 am

Keira is back! And sporting a NEW Hairstyle!

The bob is surely one of the 2011 hair trends to look out for, though to avoid looking pob-ish I’d recommend a longer bob rather than a chin-length one. Luckily for Keira she looks great with pretty much any haircut.

You get the sense she’s found her spiritual hair home with the ultimate chic ‘n’ sleek bob.
The graduated layers hit the jawline in just the right spots, the length allows for plenty of volume, it’s elegant, easy to style… you get the message, it’s a winner!

Here are 3 steps on how to make your locks behave in a similarly chic ‘n sleek way:

keira-knightley-short-hairs-small_new

Wash: Use a gentle shampoo that will remove the residues left by daily dirt and styling products without causing damage & simultaneously protecting the colour.

Use: L’Oreal Vitamino Colour Shampoo (£8.71)

Smooth: Work a smoothing cream into damp hair to eliminate any frizz and add a dazzling shine to the lengths. With a head-turning bob like this, it is really important to highlight how healthy the hair is as our eyes are drawn up the graduated lengths.

Use: TIGI After Party (£13.50) into

Roughly create a side parting and blow dry the hair at a horizontal angle with your brush under the layers and as you reach the ends, bring the brush in around the jaw line so the hair frames your face. Blow drying at this angle will help create root lift and volume through the layers.

Polish:After working your way through the hair and when it has cooled, lightly spritz the finished style with a shine spray to top up the luxurious sheen and fix the style into place.

Use: TIGI Headrush (£13.50)

Fearne’s shiny locks!

Posted under Latest Celebrity Styles, Recommended Hair Products by admin on November 9th, 2010 3:56 am

fearne cottonI’ve thought long and hard about TV presenter Fearne Cotton’s sexy hair before working out what I love the most: the  two-tone colour is beautiful, but it’s the healthy-looking shine that’s sold it to me!

Here’s how to get Fearne’s look:

Wash: Use a gentle shampoo that will remove the residues left by daily dirt and styling products without causing damage & simultaneously protecting the colour.

Use: L’Oreal Vitamino Colour shampoo £8.71

Wave: Blow-drying achieves a softer look than curling irons. Do always prep your hair first to protect it from the heat and add an extra gloss injection.

Use:   Tigi Catwalk Sleek Mystiques Blow Out Balm £11.10

Polish:
Shine spray tames frizz, but too much can leave hair greasy, so spritz a little in the air in front of you, then walk through it.

Use: Tigi Headrush £13.10

Carol’s textured bob is turned into an ultra feminine pixie crop!

Posted under Client's Before and After by admin on October 8th, 2010 3:41 am

Carol’s Lifestyle: Carol  likes to keep her hair as low maintenance as possible.Carol pixie crop

History: Carol has had a textured bob for a few months now and has been toying with the idea of having her hair cut short for a while.

Carol really liked the colour I did for her previously as the soft caramel and chocolate tones really complement her features and her skin tone.

The colour is also very subtle and natural looking, meaning that when the colour starts to grow out the regrowth is not very obvious.

The Plan: To cut Carol’s hair into a feminine short, crop, keeping the soft caramel highlights and lovely rich chocolate undertones.

Lets make it happen: I used a graduated layering technique through the top to create shape and texture through the interior and graduated softness around the perimeter, I then finished the haircut by personalising using point cutting and surface chanelling techniques to create textured edges and seperation.

I scattered soft caramel highlights throughout the hair and used a chestnut glossing to create a rich and warm undertone, giving Carol’s hair a lovely shine and the coverage she needs.

The end result: An ultra feminine pixie crop infused with soft honey and chocolate tones.

Chloe: The boho chic!

Posted under Client's Before and After by admin on October 1st, 2010 7:47 am

ChloeChloe’s lifestyle:  Chloe lives up in London and leads a very busy life, she works hard, but plays hard too ;-) I would describe Chloe’s look as  Bohemian- chic! She likes her hair to look natural and soft with very little maintanence.

Chloe is very lucky as her hair is  light naturally, so we are going to enhance her natural hair colour and keep that tousled- boho haircut – think  Sienna Miller!

History: Chloe has had long hair for a long time as she really feels that having long hair works for her. She has hilighted her hair previously and likes to keep the colour light but very natural.

The Plan: So what we’re looking to do for Chloe is to keep the length, but add some soft layers throughout to give a nice soft boho look and to enhance Chloe’s natural hair colour with some creamy blonde highlights.

Let’s make it happen: I cut the length by point cutting the hair which gives a very soft finish, I then added in some long graduated layers throughout the hair cut to add the movement Chloe is looking for.

I then did half a head of  subtle,  creamy highlights using a L’Oreal  lightening cream that is very gentle on the hair.

The end result: I’ve given Chloe a natural feminine look that is easy to style, the hair cut is very low maintainence, which is exactly what she wants due to her busy lifestyle, overall a lovely creamy, tousled, boho chic!
